Follow the Daviess County Sweet Treat Trail This Summer

This summer, dessert lovers have a new reason to explore Daviess County. From June 1 through August 1, the Sweet Treat Trail invites residents and visitors to discover local bakeries, coffee shops, creameries, and sweet stops across the county while collecting stamps for prizes along the way.

The Sweet Treat Passport features 15 participating locations, each offering its own unique flavors and hometown charm. Whether you’re craving handcrafted donuts, homemade ice cream, fresh bakery treats, specialty coffees, or Amish-made desserts, the trail is designed to turn every stop into a delicious adventure.

Participants can collect stamps throughout the summer by visiting each featured location. Anyone who collects at least seven stamps will be entered for weekly prize drawings. To encourage exploration throughout the county, at least two of those stamps must come from a different area of Daviess County as part of the “5/2 Rule.”

Those who complete all 15 stops will be entered into the Grand Prize drawing featuring a swag bag filled with sweets-themed gift cards, community swag, America 250 merchandise, and community concert tickets.

The Sweet Treat Trail is also encouraging participants to share their experiences online. Visitors can earn bonus entries by posting photos from their trail stops using the hashtag #DCSWEETTREATTRAIL.

More than just a passport challenge, the Sweet Treat Trail celebrates the local businesses, family-owned shops, and community gathering places that make Daviess County special. It’s a fun way to support small businesses while creating sweet summer memories with family and friends.

Daviess County Visitors Bureau Announces Grant Program Now Open

Washington, Indiana — The Daviess County Visitors Bureau is thrilled to announce the launch of their grant programs designed to support and boost local tourism initiatives across the county. These programs aim to encourage innovative projects and events that will attract visitors, enhance the quality of place, and showcase the unique charm of Daviess County.

The grant programs are open to nonprofits and community organizations that are committed to developing tourism-focused projects. Funding can be used for a variety of purposes, including event promotion, marketing campaigns, and quality of place projects that enhance the community.

“We are excited to offer these grant opportunities to our community,” said Debbie Goodwin, Executive Director of the Daviess County Visitors Bureau. “Our goal is to empower local organizations to create compelling experiences that highlight the rich heritage and vibrant culture of Daviess County. By investing in these initiatives, we are not only enhancing tourism but also supporting local economic growth.”

Applications for the grant programs are now open and available. Interested parties can find detailed guidelines and application forms on the Daviess County Visitors Bureau website. The deadline for submissions is April 1,2026 and successful applicants will be notified on or before April 30, 2026

DEBBIE GOODWIN NAMED DAVIESS COUNTY VISITORS BUREAU EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Debbie Goodwin, Executive Director

The Daviess County Visitor’s Bureau is excited to announce the appointment of Debbie Goodwin as the new executive director, effective Jan. 19, 2025.   Debbie will fill this role following Amber Warden’s departure from the position, as her family is relocating to Washington state. 

“Debbie is a great fit for this position and look forward to our continued collaboration with the Daviess County Economic Development Corporation,” says Marilyn McCullough, tourism commission president. “We are excited about continuing to create positive economic impact from our tourism sector and helping to enhance Daviess County events and attractions.”  

Debbie has been a proud resident of Daviess County for 25 years and has dedicated much of that time to public service and community involvement. She has served on the Daviess County Tourism Commission Board for eight years, including the last two years as Treasurer. A strong ambassador for the county, Debbie has also worked in local government as Property Manager in the Daviess County Auditor’s Office for 11 years. 

In addition to her public service, Debbie is an award-winning realtor with Century 21 Classic Realty in Washington, where she has worked for the past five years. She is deeply engaged in civic leadership, serving as President of the Daviess County Republican Women and as Secretary of the Daviess County Republican Party. In 2024, she represented the county as a delegate at the Indiana GOP Convention. 

Debbie is an active member of Tri Kappa, Beta Zeta Chapter, and has chaired numerous community initiatives, including the Daddy Daughter Dance for several years. She has also organized political dinners, coordinated events, and planned weddings for her children and friends. Known for her creativity and organization, Debbie enjoys designing parade floats, hosting gatherings, and bringing people together. 

Debbie and her husband, Clint, reside in Washington, where they enjoy spending time swimming, relaxing by the fire, and hosting their seven adult children and growing families. Networking comes naturally to Debbie—she has a genuine gift for connecting people, building relationships, and learning through conversation. She is passionate about exploring innovative and grassroots ways to promote Daviess County to visitors while keeping longtime residents informed, engaged, and excited about the community events they love.
